Homey Home Home Home

Hello everyone!

I'm home this weekend. It's so nice to be home. Even though my room is messy and my bathroom needs to be cleaned, being home is so much better than being at school. And I'm sad to admit that it's mostly because I get to see Robert, my boyfriend for those of you who don't know. And seeing as NO ONE is reading my blog that means no one knows. Anyways, he's basically the most awesome guy I've ever met in my life and I love him with all my heart. I love him with my toes is what I tell him. I don't even think he knows what that means but it's alright.

ANYWAYS, I'm hoping to get some scrapbooking done for real this week. I'm thinking one layout, nothing fancy. Maybe I'll do it before dinner. Or during Heroes and Gossip Girl. This happens on Monday by the way. My goal for the week is to have pictures of what I scrapbooked up on Tuesday, even if I think it's a terrible layout. It deserves some airtime no matter what. So if you reallllyyy want to see my scrapbooking in action, check back on Tuesday and cross your fingers that my crazy homework schedule did not overtake my life.

Have a Scraptastic Day (well...now it's evening)!

A Day at the Zoo

Alright, so I hope everyone's day is good. Mine was a little crazy, there were fire drills, swine flu class cancellations etc. Anyways, instead of planning my magical fitness plan that will get my ass in shape (not that it's really out of shape it's just not in shape) (oh and by ass I mean body because my ass is flat and will probably never have a shape), I decided I would post my first scrapbook page. Well not the first in my scrapbook and not the first one I ever did but the first one in my scrapbook that is decent and I am proud of. It's entitled "A Day at the Zoo" and the pictures are from 9th grade when my friends and I went to the zoo instead of going to school on 6/6/06 because there was a bomb threat and our parents didn't make us go. It was a lot of fun and while, my scrapbooking isn't fantastic, I'm very proud of what I accomplished on this one.

Anyways, there it is. I'm sorry it's a little fuzzy, hopefully I can work on that for the next time I post. Give me your feedback on what you think I could improve or change. I would love to hear your comments.

Have a Scraptastic Day!

Regina Spektor

Last night I went to the Regina Spektor concert at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston. Let me tell you she was the most talented, amazing woman I have ever seen perform in my life. While she seemed nervous and shy and didn't have much stage presence/audience interaction (no one danced), the Orpheum is a rather large venue and it's seating only, which I suppose does make it difficult for dancing. But back to Regina. Not only was her voice more beautiful in person than it was on the CD, she played an instrument for almost every song, including simultaneously slapping a chair with a drumstick (?), playing the piano, and singing. If that's not talent, I don't know what is. Her awesomeness left me awestruck.

Top Eight Reasons College Makes it Hard to Scrapbook

First of all, I would just like to say, "Hey! What's up?" I'm Jill, I'm a freshman at Boston University, and yes, I scrapbook. Am I a good scrapbooker? No, probably not by most definitions. But I love doing it, I love recording memories of my friends and family and making them look gorgeous on the page. So, I'm going to try to upload pictures of my scrapbook as it comes along. I hope everyone enjoys it.

And now, here are my Top Eight Reasons College Makes it Hard to Scrapbook:
1. They expect you to work. A lot. You can no longer push your homework aside and say hey, I can talk my teacher into letting me out of this one, I just need to get this layout done before I go crazy. Your professors don't care how pressing the issue, your homework is supposed to be done.
2. You live with your friends now. Most people live in a dorm their freshman year and become close with their floormates. While this is great, having people over 24/7 does not make for good scrapbooking.
3. There are so many new activities to do. How do you make time for scrapbooking between all of the meetings and all of the homework?
4. There is no space for your scrapbook stuff. I have mine way up in the top of my closet where I can't reach it. Which means I have to risk my life scaling the closet walls every time I need to grab something.
5. College parties aren't much to scrapbook about. In high school you had school events, 80's day, Prom, Homecoming, etc. And there were embellishments for that. There are no embellishments for "My First Frat Party".
6. There's no space to spread out and work. My desk barely fits my computer, nevermind two 12x2 sheets.
7. Many college students are afraid of scrapbooking. They don't think it's cool. You have another thing coming you guys. Scrapbooking is awesome.
8. College students are poor. We live off of dollar food and our meal plans. And occasionally $20 that gets thrown our way when we go home for the weekend.

So this was supposed to be the top 10 reasons however, I started this post too late and I now have to head off to my lecture. I'll debunk these reasons (and help myself stop procrastinating my pages) later.

Hope everyone has a scraptastic day!
